Match.com Partners Can Find a Date Based on Ex One with Facial Recognition Partnership

You may say you are looking for a possible mate that the same appearance as Scarlett Johansson or George Clooney, but chances are when you do have an “example” and it looks like your ex a lot.

Building on this idea, popular dating website and one of the best mobile dating sites, Match.com has got a partnership with Three Day Rule – a Los Angeles-based matchmaking service that utilize facial-recognition technology in order to find dates for members.

In some weeks ahead, Match.com users will be enabled to upgrade to the premium service of Three Day Rule, which asks members to send photos of their exes to determine what type of look they are attracted to.

“Person has a type and it is not necessarily about hair color or race or height, but much of this is about the shape of face,” said Talia Goldstein, Three Day Rule’s founder.

But the choice comes with its price: premium service of Three Day Rule costs $5,000 for a package of six-month. This base of users is typically a little demographic of high-end members who don’t have enough time to find partners. Premium members assign professional matchmakers, who consult the user, meet with them, learn his/her preferences and then may even go with potential mates on pre-dates as to not spend the precious time of members. (The matches may be chosen directly from both Three Day Rule and Match’s database or the personal network of matchmaker).

Now, the matchmaker will ask for photos of ex-girlfriends or boyfriends of premium members to gauge the shape of face of its clients like most from those networks and databases.

“I have noticed over my experience in matchmaking that each person has his/her types” said Goldstein. “I usually ask the users to send me pictures of their exes. Most of them say that they do not have a type, however when I see these photos, for me they look similar a lot. The ex girlfriend or boyfriend may have different hair color, or be different ethnicities, but their facial shapes are the same.”
